Sheer pleasure

Experience a new way to fly a gyroplane.

With the DF02, in summer, remove the rear part of the canopy and feel the wind in your hair. You get the pleasure of flying this compact and manoeuvrable gyro.

In winter, enjoy the comfort and panoramic view while sheltered from the cold, thanks to the fully enclosed canopy.

The fuselage forms one harmonious, continuous line.

The moulded-Plexiglas canopy has an elegant and streamlined design. Its top professional quality makes it optically flawless.

The cockpit’s design is particularly user-friendly. All the controls are easily within reach and the adjustable rudder-pedals allow any pilot to find a comfortable position, slightly inclined. Only moderate pressure on stick and rudder is required, and their response is immediate yet gentle.

The new french AVERSO Aviation rotor made of extruded aluminium provides the DF02 with great stability in case of turbulence and with excellent performance. It makes it easy to handle and to avoid being shaken.

We are proud to say that the DF02 is the only gyroplane on the market with an enclosed cockpit that remains stable on all axis, even at top speed.

The basic version of the DF02 is already very well equipped:

Fuel injected two-stroke 70 hp engine, double ignition, electric starter, oil injection, complete instrument panel as well.

The quality of its standard equipments is an important safety feature which will also participate maintaining the value of your DF02.

Rotorsystem

We exclusively use the new AVERSO blades on the gyrocopters that we produce for the following reasons :

The great inertia of this rotor of 140 kgm² (compare to other rotors!) is higher than that of the Sportcopter blades we tried first and improves significantly the aircraft stability, especially in turbulence. It provides more safety and comfort for the pilot. At 330 rpm the blades contain the energy of 83 KJ!

The construction of the blades which are made of extruded aluminium is well known for its many advantages, homogeneity of its structure and profile, stiffness, abrasion-resistant to rain, projection of gravel, etc...

Each rotor is carefully balanced and flight-tested before delivery. Pitch and tracking are adjustable.

The AVERSO rotors entirely reply to the safety requirements expected from such a vital feature on a gyroplane.

Safety first !

The new GyroTec rotor head has features that is unique on the market. The stops of articulation are integrated in the head, so the rotor, if flapping, doesn't charge the steering system.
The effective rotor brake with manual control - independent of the trim system - allows to stop the rotor exactly in the position you want.
The prerotator's bendix is capsulated and so protected of rain and dust.
Strong aluminium alloy - all aluminium parts are made of 7075T6 - allows a solid and lightweight construction - the complete head with brake and prerotator has just a weight of 5400gr.

Engine

The 70 hp two stroke HIRTH 3503 E (spec sheet) is a reasonable choice compared to the ROTAX 582.

Indeed, its modern design with reed-valve intake, Nicasil-coated cylinders and electronic fuel-injection, makes it more fuel-efficient.- It uses over one gallon per hour less than the 582.

The HIRTH factory specifically adapts the fuel-injection settings for the DF02.

This 2 strokes engine is lighter and cheaper than any 4 strokes in that range of power.

Nevertheless, for those who prefer 4 stroke, the 80 hp ROTAX 912 UL mounting is available in the future. Therefore a new cowling for that engine has to be designed. This will be done depending on the amount of orders.

Frame

The steel we use to build the frame shows no compromise. It is a top aeronautical quality 15CDV6 (Werkstoffnummer 1.7734.5) chrome-molybdenum-vanadium steel that is TIG-welded. It's stronger than the usual aeronautical steel SAE 4130:

Yield strength........... 4130:  480-520 MPa, 15CDV6:  790 MPa

Tensile strength.........15CDV6:  650-850 MPa, 15CDV6:  980-1180 MPa

Tail-Stabilizer

The horizontal stabilizer has one vertical fin at each end. The central rudder is mounted on a fixed vertical stabilizer used as a yaw damper.

Indeed the yaw stability is outstanding. You can fly straight at over 90 MPH feet-off the pedals.

Propellers

One models of propellers is being homologated in Germany :

KIEVPROP Type 243 is a Ukrainian made 3 blade fibreglass propeller. Diameter is 1.61 m. The blades have a scimitar shape and their edges are protected by brass inserts.

This is an economical propeller that is known for its high efficiency and low-noise level. http://www.kievprop.com.ua/

Local flight or journey

The DF02 is really a versatile aircraft.

You can make a casual half-hour local flight and have fun handling it. It's a real delight.

But it is also suitable for navigation on a long-haul journey. Its comfort and stability, added to a cruising range of over 500 km make it particularly appropriate for that kind of flight.

Talking about weight

With the DF02, no tricks are needed to stay under the 300 kg limit.

The carrying capacity is 125 kg with the HIRTH engine. Given that you weigh 80 kg, and that your gas tank is filled up to 60 litres, you may take with you an additional 2 kg of luggage.

Hangar space

Hangar space is rare. Many a pilot has been discouraged from buying his own aircraft because of that.

However, things are different with the DF02. Its small size makes it easier for you to find an available spot in a hangar. And you can always find a space somewhere in a corner of your garage.

Aesthetic

Do you know anything more handsome than the DF02 ? We certainly don’t !

Take a look at its streamlined fuselage with its glider-like canopy, the shiny coating finish, its aerodynamic gear legs, its beautiful wheel rims, its gracefully shaped wheel fairings, and many other things for you to discover.
